Who is better at adhering to the guidelines for diagnostic imaging and LBP guidelines?

A new study has assessed attitudes and beliefs about the management of low back pain (LBP) among Dutch and Belgian chiropractors and examined the correlation between the attitudes and beliefs about the use of diagnostic imaging and adherence to diagnostic guidelines and guidelines in the treatment of patients with LBP.

The study used a web-based questionnaire in chiropractic private practices in the Netherlands and Belgium, which categorized the chiropractors into three groups, primarily distinguished by the biomedical score.

Chiropractors who leaned most towards a biomedical treatment were better at adhering to the guidelines for diagnostic imaging and LBP guidelines when it came to advising on return to work and activity, compared to the other two groups. There was no difference between the groups when it came to treating LBP.

Due to the small number in the high and low biomedical groups, one should be careful in interpreting the results.
